This car has the same curves as the other Marilyn
No engine or transmission, not even a steering column. This 58 had definitely seen better days!
This was probably the most challenging car I have taken on, for a couple of reasons.
Firstly that body. What on earth was going on? Someone had repaired the car badly and it was going to need some serious rectification!
Secondly, there were a lot of parts missing.
And thirdly, someone tried to hack a right hand drive conversion.
This car shares many features with Jolene, the other Corvette I am working on, including engine and transmission choice.
This was going to be a major challenge, and it took me 2 years. But Marilyn has made it worth all the dirt, sweat and tears!
Accolades
Marilyn was finished in May 2021, due to some bug that was going around she had to wait until May 2023 to get her first public airing which was at MotorEx in Melbourne. She was selected to enter the Super Stars Pavilion which showcases the best builds in Australia.
Since then, she has won awards from shows around NSW including 1st Place, Full Modified Convertible at the 2023 Hot Rod and Custom Expo.
What is different about Marilyn?
This is another Corvette with beautiful classic lines and a comfortable ride. Every Corvette I finish is better than the one before. Marilyn has some really cool new features, such as her wider hips and her hidden gas filler. Here is where the story starts...
